Autumn Nature Studies Part 1

We got this great little book "It's Fall" by Linda Glacer at the library. At the end of the book, there are many great fall-ish activities to do with your munchkins. Many of them will sound familiar to you, but some of them might be new....fun stuff. Good nature/season study stuff. Get out those nature journals!

  • Go to an apple orchard and pick apples
  • Collect autumn leaves. Pleace them in a old telephone book. Set some heavy books on top to press and dry the leaves.
  • Make leaf rubbings. Put a leaf under a piece of paper. Use the side of a crayon and rub over the leaf. Notice the different shapes and wein pattern that form on the paper.
  • Collect dry flower seeds and pods from the garden to plant in the spring. If you collect wildflower seeds, only take ones that are plentiful. Lay seeds out to dry and store them in a cool dry place until spring planting.
  • Collect garden flower or wildflower that are plentiful. Hang them upside down to dry. When they get stiff, arrange them in a vace.
Let me see (pics!) if you do any of these projects, and I'll keep you updated on ours also!

Great ideas! I love fall, and I really love the books in your "want to buy"section. I'm looking for the Christian Liberty Nature book series, they would be fabulous to add to your collection...let me know if you come across any at a good deal. Blessings to you this week!
